A1 Tapes Video Guide: Packaging, Warning and Duct Tapes
A1 Tapes practical video guide
Seven videos to help you choose the right tape for the job.
Compare everyday carton sealing, printed handling messages, PVC duct tape and packing-bench application. Each section explains what the product is designed to do, what to check before ordering and where it fits in a practical packaging process.

Which packaging tape should you use?
Start with the work the tape must perform, not just its colour or price. A carton-sealing tape, a printed instruction tape and a PVC duct tape use different constructions because they solve different problems.
For carton closure, identify the board surface, packed weight, closure pattern and storage conditions. For freight instructions, decide exactly what message handlers must see and where the printed tape will remain visible. For maintenance and repair, consider the substrate, flexibility and exposure the finished job will face.
- Task: define carton sealing, visible instruction, bundling, repair or maintenance.
- Surface: check coatings, recycled fibre, dust, moisture and uneven areas.
- Application: confirm hand application or a compatible dispenser.
- Conditions: consider storage, handling, temperature and transport.
Use the video to shortlist the format, then trial it on the actual carton or substrate in representative operating conditions.
Master guide, compare the role of each tape family before reviewing individual products.

Clear acrylic packaging tape
Clear acrylic packaging tape is a practical general-purpose option for closing cartons in warehouses, dispatch areas and ecommerce operations. The transparent film keeps labels, printed carton information and barcodes visible where the tape crosses the surface.
This A1 Tapes format is 48 mm wide, 75 m long and 50 micron thick, with an acrylic-based adhesive and a standard 3 inch core. It is intended for routine carton sealing where a clear finish and straightforward bench application are useful.
Performance still depends on the carton. Dust, moisture, cold surfaces, recycled corrugate and heavy print coatings can change how well pressure-sensitive tape wets out and bonds. Apply it evenly with firm pressure, then inspect the closure after packing and handling.
- Use the actual carton board when testing, not a clean substitute sample.
- Check that the 48 mm width covers the closure consistently.
- Keep cartons and tape clean and dry before application.
- Evaluate the finished packed carton through normal storage and dispatch.

Handheld packaging tape dispenser
A handheld dispenser supports faster, more controlled application by holding the roll, tensioning the tape and providing a cutting edge in one tool. It can reduce the repeated handling involved in finding the tape end and cutting each strip manually.
The T15001 is designed for carton sealing and general packing work. Its usefulness depends on the tape width, core fit, operator technique and volume of work. A suitable dispenser should feed smoothly, allow the tape to contact the carton without excessive stretching and produce a clean cut at the end of the closure.
Set up the packing bench so operators can keep the tape path controlled and apply firm, even pressure. A dispenser improves the application process, but it cannot compensate for an adhesive that is unsuitable for the carton surface or conditions.
- Confirm compatibility with the tape roll before standardising the tool.
- Adjust tension so the tape feeds smoothly without pulling away from the carton.
- Train operators to keep the closure centred and wrinkle-free.
- Replace damaged blades and worn components promptly.

Do Not Break Down pallet tape
Do Not Break Down printed tape provides a repeated visual instruction that a prepared pallet should remain intact. Applied where it stays visible, the red and white message can support communication between warehouse staff, carriers, depots and receiving teams.
The current A1 Tapes format is 48 mm × 66 m × 50 micron with acrylic-based adhesive and a 3 inch core. Use it as a communication aid in a documented freight process, not as a structural component of the load.
The tape does not restrain freight, stabilise cartons or replace compliant pallet wrapping, strapping, corner protection or other packaging selected for the load. The packed unit still needs to be prepared for its weight, geometry, handling route and transport conditions.
- Apply the message where it remains visible from normal handling positions.
- Repeat the instruction around the unit where one face may be obscured.
- Confirm the tape adheres to the intended wrap, carton or surface.
- Support the message with internal freight and receiving procedures.

Printed tape communicates an instruction. It is not a load-restraint product.

Top Load Only printed tape
Top Load Only tape makes a stacking instruction easier to see when a freight unit should not have other goods placed above it. The repeated red and white message can help the instruction remain visible as the pallet or carton moves through staging, storage and transport.
This A1 Tapes format is 48 mm × 66 m × 50 micron with acrylic-based adhesive and a 3 inch core. Apply it to a clean, suitable surface and position it where handlers are likely to see it before they stack or move the freight.
Like other printed instruction tapes, it supports communication rather than physical protection. It does not create headroom, prevent impact or guarantee handling behaviour. The broader packaging and freight plan must still protect the load and communicate any critical handling requirements through the appropriate channels.
- Place the message high enough to remain visible around the prepared load.
- Use repeated strips where freight may be approached from several directions.
- Check adhesion after wrapping, staging and normal handling.
- Include the instruction in consignment and warehouse procedures where required.

Silver PVC duct tape
Silver PVC duct tape is a flexible general-purpose option for suitable sealing, bundling, wrapping, protection and maintenance work. The PVC backing can conform around uneven shapes more readily than a rigid film, while the rubber-based adhesive provides initial grip on compatible surfaces.
The A1 Tapes silver format is 48 mm wide, 30 m long and 130 micron thick, with a 1.5 inch core. The silver finish suits workshop, warehouse, HVAC, construction and general maintenance environments where a neutral metallic appearance is useful.
Use the application, substrate and exposure to determine suitability. Clean away dust, oil and loose material, apply firm pressure and avoid assuming that a general-purpose duct tape is suitable for permanent structural repairs, electrical insulation or specialised high-temperature work.
- Check the substrate for dust, oil, moisture and loose surface material.
- Confirm whether the repair is temporary, routine or safety-critical.
- Assess temperature, moisture, abrasion and outdoor exposure.
- Trial removal if residue or surface marking would be a concern.

Black PVC duct tape
Black PVC duct tape provides the same core format as the silver option in a low-visibility black finish. It suits compatible sealing, repairs, bundling, wrapping, masking and general maintenance tasks where black blends more neatly with equipment, covers, cables or dark surfaces.
The A1 Tapes black format is 48 mm × 30 m × 130 micron with flexible PVC backing, rubber-based adhesive and a 1.5 inch core. Choose between black and silver primarily around visibility, identification and the appearance required for the finished work.
Colour does not change the need to test the tape against the real substrate and operating conditions. Confirm that it adheres properly, remains intact for the required period and can be removed acceptably where the work is temporary.
- Use black where a darker, less conspicuous finish is preferred.
- Keep critical inspection markings and safety information visible.
- Avoid relying on general-purpose tape for engineered or safety-rated repairs.
- Test adhesion, exposure and removal on the actual surface.
See the black PVC option for suitable dark-finish maintenance and bundling work.
