A better buy starts with the numbers.A pack price tells you what you will spend today. Cost per bag helps you compare quantities. Put both alongside the right specification, delivery and your expected usage.
01 / Start with the specification
Match the bag to the job first.
Compare pack sizes of the same product before comparing different bags. A reusable HDPE garden bag and a plain woven polypropylene sack serve different requirements. Their unit prices alone will not tell you which is suitable.
- Size
- Check width, height, base dimensions and any flap or gusset.
- Material & finish
- Confirm HDPE or polypropylene, transparent or opaque, and laminated or unlaminated construction.
- Construction
- Check the opening, seams and any handles against your filling and handling process.
- What is included
- A pack of replacement bags is different from a set containing a frame and hooks.

03 / Bring delivery into the picture
The full order cost matters.
Compare the total for the quantity you actually need, delivered to the same location. Include any delivery charge in both options and keep the GST basis the same.
Product cost + delivery÷ total number of bags
That is your delivered cost per bag.
Same destination
Compare delivery to the same postcode and receiving location.
Same GST basis
Use GST-inclusive totals for both options, or GST-exclusive totals for both.
Mixed orders
Compare the complete delivered order total unless you have a consistent way to allocate freight between products.
Larger quantities
Ask for a delivered quote when you need help comparing a larger order.

Buy what your operation can use.
A lower unit price is useful when the additional bags will be used. Review your normal consumption, available storage and cash commitment before choosing the largest pack.

A larger pack can have a lower cost per bag, but the upfront spend is higher. Compare the quantity you can use, your available storage and the delivered order total before choosing.
Can I compare different bag types by unit price?
Check suitability first. Compare pack sizes within the same product, then assess different products against the material, size and construction your job needs. A lower price does not establish that a bag is suitable.
How should I compare a mixed order?
Compare the complete delivered order total unless you have a consistent way to allocate freight between the products. Keep the GST basis and delivery location consistent.
